Beginning Jazz for Middle & High School, Dance for Musical Theater
Kelly Jacobson Treybig was raised in Austin, Texas and has danced and performed since the age of 4! After graduating from Westlake High School where she was a 3 year member of the Hyline Dance Team, she joined the world famous Strutters at South West Texas (Texas State). She majored in Child Development and Dance and has taught ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and musical theater since 1986 for Shirley McPhail School of Dance, and the Dance Center.
Kelly has managed and worked at dance studios and dancewear stores (Capezio, Dancer’s Closet and the Dancer’s Den) for over 25 years. She was the pre-professional children’s group for SMSD Performing Troupe director for SMSD from 1994 -2001, the Director of Concordia Lutheran college dance team 1993–1995 And is a Member of th Texas Association Teachers of Dance since 1995. Her choreography for teams and productions has received regional and national awards throughout the years. Kelly has adjudicated and choreographed musical theater productions for LISD, EISD and AISD schools since 2003.
In addition to teaching dance she is training for her certification in Group Fitness and has received certifications from the Austin School of Film in Video Marketing, Film Making and Web Design.
Kelly is excited to join the TexARTS team as the teacher for Beginning Jazz for Middle and High School and Dance for Musical Theater. Catch her on Tuesdays for class!
