ABOUT OUR ACADEMY
Research suggests that students who are involved in the Arts consistently score better on standardized tests, achieve a higher level of academic performance, attend school more regularly, and receive boosts in self-esteem. Our Academy seeks to do just this by providing exposure to and training in the Theatrical Arts to all students, regardless of income or ability through a variety of programs.
Offered after school hours, provide high-quality training to students of all ages. It is here that we build the skills that thereby enhance the confidence of every student. Students develop vocal and physical presence through classes in acting, dance, voice, improvisation, stage combat, and musical theatre. Our fall session runs September – November and our spring session runs January – April. Classes typically meet once per week for an hour for
10-12 weeks.
Foster a sense of community by welcoming students from all walks of life in an effort to fun and nurture a love and deeper understanding of Theatre. Students are exposed to a diverse range of disciplines. Collaboration and problem solving opportunities abound. We offer a variety of summer camps and multiple holiday camps (Spring and Winter Break, Indigenous Peoples’ and Presidents Day) every year. Camps typically run from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm with early drop-off and late pick-up options available.
Give students opportunities to perform in a fully produced show in front of a live audience! Through the rehearsal process, exploration is encouraged and empathy is cultivated as students are tasked with stepping into another’s shoes to play a character. Perseverance is key, as no matter what, the show must go on! A variety of age appropriate shows are offered in the fall and spring with rehearsals typically happening Fridays after school and on the weekends.
Provides a home for students who have discovered that theatre is their passion. Advanced training and performance opportunities and connections with industry professionals help students to further build skills and confidence. The EP is its own community where diversity is embraced, students are encouraged to stretch themselves, and individuals must work collectively to support one another’s growth. The EP program is a year-long commitment with auditions scheduled in August of each year.

TEXARTS
EMERGING PROFESSIONALS
TexARTS Emerging Professionals are a dedicated group of young artists looking to commit to a higher level of training and performance. These students might be considering studying the Arts at the collegiate level or pursuing a professional career. Students will work with industry professionals to hone their crafts, build their skills and confidence, and find their voices and identity as artists. Our Emerging Professional will serve as ambassadors for TexARTS in and around Lakeway and the greater Austin Community.
Once the audition is completed, the student may be offered a spot in the company. Students and families will further work with our faculty to construct a specific series of classes, masterclasses, and performance opportunities that will both challenge and excite.
The program is divided into two cohorts: The Junior Company (grades 5-8) and Senior Company (grades 9-12). Once admitted to the program, students will select a “Track” of focus: Musical Theatre, Acting, Vocal, Dance, or Technical Theatre.
