HISTORY
Founded in 2005, TexARTS has grown from a small community arts initiative into the premier nonprofit performing arts organization serving the Lake Travis region and beyond.

Over the past two decades, TexARTS has evolved into a thriving professional theatre and arts education organization producing year-round professional theatre, youth productions, arts education programs, camps, special events, and community experiences. What began as a modest educational and performance program has become a vibrant cultural destination in the heart of Lakeway.

TexARTS has produced more than 100 professional productions and has served thousands of students and audience members through performances, classes, camps, and outreach initiatives. Today, TexARTS welcomes patrons and students from across Central Texas and beyond while continuing to expand its artistic and educational impact.
Under the leadership of former Executive Director Jarrett Mallon, TexARTS experienced a significant period of renewal and organizational growth. During his nearly decade-long tenure, the organization expanded its programming, strengthened its community presence, and successfully navigated the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by pivoting to virtual instruction and streaming performances—ensuring the arts remained accessible during a critical time for both students and audiences.
TexARTS entered a transformational new chapter under the leadership of Executive Director Sandy Cox. In just 18 months, TexARTS successfully designed, renovated, and opened a new permanent home in Lakeway featuring a state-of-the-art theatre, academy, and event facility. This milestone established a long-term cultural anchor for the community and dramatically expanded TexARTS’ ability to serve audiences, students, artists, and community partners throughout the region.

Today, TexARTS operates a full professional theatre season alongside a comprehensive academy offering instruction in acting, musical theatre, dance, and voice for students of all ages. TexARTS also serves as an important employer within the creative economy, hiring professional actors, directors, choreographers, musicians, designers, technicians, and educators from across Texas and the nation.

TexARTS alumni have gone on to perform and work on Broadway, national tours, cruise lines, television, film, regional theatres, and leading collegiate arts programs. At the same time, TexARTS remains deeply committed to its local mission: creating meaningful artistic experiences, strengthening community connections, and ensuring the arts remain accessible and thriving in the Lake Travis region for generations to come.
